Old Home Week in Kennebunk kicks off Saturday, June 28th. In the 19th century, Old Home Week began as a New England tradition for towns and villages to invite people who grew up there as children to come back and visit the “Old Home” or homestead. Kennebunk’s celebration includes a full schedule of events all week. One of the highlights Saturday is the parade at 10:00 a.m that will include “old time floats”. Other events during the day include farmers’ market, craft fair, petting zoo, pony rides, classic car show and musical entertainment.
Old Home Week celebration continues throughout the week with family picnic night, MaineStage Shakespeare performance, chicken BBQ dinner and fireworks at Gooch’s Beach. A complete schedule of events is available here and everyone is welcome.
