Winter comes to life when the ice skating rink at the Waterhouse Center in downtown Kennebunk opens. Free to the public and friendly for all ages, the rink is a winter highlight. Grab some friends, skate and take a break to watch the town zamboni make the ice sparkle. A pond option includes ice skating at Crow Hill in Kennebunkport.
All month long, Paint the Town Red with special Valentine-inspired meals and deals throughout the Kennebunks. On Feb. 4, make the most of the season at Winterfest, which includes winter carnival activities in Kennebunk.
How about sledding? Try the Sea Road sledding hill in Kennebunk or the slope next to Consolidated School in Kennebunkport. In Wells, Laudholm Farm offers great rolling hills!
Easter Egg Hunt at Kennebunk Elementary School is held annually (April 8) two Saturdays before Easter. Free for children 2 to 8. This month the Waterhouse Center re-opens for community events, such as a health fair and a community yard sale.
May Day is set for May 7, when Kennebunk springs to life with downtown festivities such as May pole dancing, a parade, crafts and more.
Memorial Day parades are held in Kennebunk and Kennebunkport. Kennebunkport’s parade usually kicks off at 9:30 a.m. and marches through Dock Square and into Lower Village. A half hour after ending, the parade then moves to Cape Porpoise. Kennebunk’s parade travels along Main Street and begins at 2 p.m.

The first of four School Around Us craft fairs will be held on Saturday, May 28 (Memorial Day weekend) at Consolidated School. They continue July 2 on the Green in Kennebunkport; Sept. 3 on the Green in Kennebunkport; and Nov. 14 at the Middle School of the Kennebunks. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Village Art Walk in Lower Village, Kennebunk, and Kennebunkport’s Dock Square art galleries runs from 5 to 7 p.m. on the second Fridays of the month: June 10, July 8, Aug. 12, Sept. 9, Dec. 9.
