From the stretches of sand at Kennebunk’s beaches – Mother’s, Middle and Gooch’s – to Kennebunkport’s ever-popular Goose Rocks Beach and the smaller Colony Beach, our region boasts some of the finest places in Maine to soak up some surf and sun.
We don’t like to brag (OK, we really do), but we have spectacular views everywhere you look. Beautiful beaches? Check. Crashing surf? Check. Craggy coastline? Picturesque villages? Pastoral vistas? Check, check, check.
If you hear anyone talking about “41,” chances are they’re speaking about former President George H. W. Bush. The region has enjoyed several generations of Bushes at Walker’s Point, and folks are proud of their most famous summer neighbors. You’ll see photos of George and Barbara everywhere. You might even catch a glimpse of Kennebunkport’s first family in person, if you’re lucky.
We’ve got all your Maine favorites – lobstah, chowdah and more – but there are plenty of dining options you might not expect. You’ll find Mexican, Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Italian cuisines and more, along with continental and New American eateries, as well as everything from walk-up food windows to five-star dining.
You’ll find everything from Maine souvenirs and fine works of art to hand-crafted jewelry. So browse, buy and bring something special home!
From sea captains homes lining Kennebunk’s Summer Street, Kennebunkport’s lovely White Columns mansion and the antique farmhouses of Arundel, the region’s deep connection to the land and sea is evident everywhere you look.
The Places You’ll Stay
Cozy bed and breakfasts, stylish hotels and motels and historic inns and resorts – our accommodations run the gamut. But one thing they all have in common is the level of personal service you’ll receive wherever you decide to make your home away from home.
The Places You’ll Go
From sunset kayak tours to whale-watching cruises to biking through the woods or hiking on trails, the Kennebunks and Arundel have something for everyone.
The Year-Round Appeal
While famous for our summer attractions, it’s just as gorgeous here the rest of the year! A colorful explosion of foliage and cooler days welcome leaf-peepers in autumn and Christmas Prelude draws thousands of visitors for our renowned holiday celebration. Spring brings warming days and smaller crowds, with plenty of room to stretch.
You can get here from there. Less than two hours from Boston, five hours from New York or just under six from Quebec and Montreal, the Kennebunks and Arundel are a short enough drive away for a long weekend (or longer!). Coming from farther away? You can get here by train (the Amtrak Downeaster stops just a few miles down the road), plane (the Portland Jetport is 30 minutes away, Boston’s Logan Airport is 90 minutes away, as is Manchester Airport in N.H.) and, of course, automobile.
