You’ve got three hours to “experience the Kennebunks,” so what do you do? Here’s our favorite three-hour tour:
Drive along Beach Avenue from Cooper’s Corner and take in the Kennebunk beaches, Gooch’s, Middle and Mother’s. Feeling adventurous? Park (legally) and get out and sink your toes into the sand, or take a swing at the playground on Mother’s Beach. Then, dust off the sand, head back to the car and loop around in front of KBIA and drive back to Lower Village/Dock Square.
(You can take in much the same sights – with narration! – on a 45-minute Intown Trolley tour.)
Grab a lobster roll to go (every eatery makes one!), and a whoopie pie. Nothing says “taste of Maine” like those two. If you’re feeling adventurous, wash it down with a bottle of Moxie. Click here for our Lobster Roll Trail.
Better yet, do a tasting at Kennebunkport Brewing Co., the birthplace of Shipyard Ale and then hop over to Batson River Distilling & Brewing for some more great local drinks.

Shopped ‘til you dropped? Head back to the car and take Ocean Avenue out to Walker’s Point, the summer home of the Bush family. Along the way look right and take in the crashing waves. Just before Walker’s Point, pull over at the scenic overlook to grab a photo at the Anchor to Windward.
Proceed past the Bush compound along Ocean Avenue, bearing right onto Wildes District Road until you merge with Route 9/Mills Road until you reach Cape Porpoise. Bear right at Cape Porpoise Kitchen (or stop for a treat!) onto Pier Road. Follow this to the end, where you can see the working harbor and gaze across to Goat Island Light. You can even catch a meal with a view at Casa 77 Osteria or Cape Pier Chowder House before you head out.
